HGA to provide Project Management Consulting Services for new GCA Ammonia Plant

Over the past few years, we have achieved industry-leading excellence in project delivery and overall project management effectiveness. We have also built strong Gulf Coast momentum through our owner’s representative strategy. To build on our distinctive portfolio, we recently executed a contract with Gulf Coast Ammonia (GCA) to provide owner’s representative and project management consulting (PMC) services for their 1.3 million ton per year anhydrous ammonia plant in Texas City near Galveston, Texas. HGA will serve as GCA’s owner’s engineer in monitoring, reviewing and reporting on GCA’s EPC contractor’s performance through the complete engineering, procurement, commissioning and plant start-up lifecycle.

The scope of the agreement involves end-to-end project management services. Services to be provided include management of schedule, cost, contractor performance, conformance to technical engineering design standards and global procurement source inspection. HGA will also provide GCA’s site management services, including oversight of all HSSE programs and construction quality assurance. The GCA Ammonia plant project will be fully supported by VistaTRAK, HGA’s project tracking and reporting service. Work is expected to begin in early 2020 with commissioning expected in 2023.

The GCA anhydrous ammonia facility is a marquee program in GCA’s business in North America. The new world-scale facility will help meet domestic and global demands for nitrogen-based fertilizers to improve crop production and yields to feed the world’s growing population, as well as specialty chemical feedstock needs on the Texas Gulf Coast. The facility will use world-class, best-available technologies, materials and practices to meet or exceed all global industry standards for the safe production, handling and storage of ammonia.

“We are honored to be selected by GCA to work with them on their world-scale anhydrous ammonia plant,” said Jay Guillot, senior vice president of HGA’s program management business. “HGA’s program management experience, coupled with our talented resources, positioned us well for this important new petrochemical project.”

The project will be led by HGA’s Houston and Baton Rouge offices. A team has already mobilized and is supporting the client on the project. Read more about the project at www.gulfcoastammonia.com.
