Sam Costanza

Vice President, Engineering Business Unit

Sam joined HGA in 2008 and is the Vice President of the Engineering Business Unit. He is a Project Management Professional (PMP) with over 16 years of experience and has supported HGA’s clients in the successful execution of engineering projects and disaster recovery programs. Sam’s diverse industry experience includes the oil & gas, wood products, pulp & paper, chemical, petrochemical, and public sectors, and makes him a valuable asset on strategic and operational projects. He has played a key role in working with clients to successfully deliver projects and annual capital programs in excess of $200M TIC and disaster recovery programs with more than 350 projects totaling $1.3B of infrastructure investment. Sam has supported HGA’s growth by working with clients to develop sound project execution approaches, focusing on developing client relationships and supporting clients through all phases of the project life cycle.

Sam’s experience covers project management, program management, and engineering efficiency across a range of industries. He has played a key role in managing and delivering projects for a multibillion-dollar disaster recovery program. He later moved into the Director of Projects role for the engineering business unit where he had responsibility for leading the project management and procurement groups. His role has since been expanded to an operations capacity, as well as the responsibility for the Engineering discipline groups.

Before joining HGA, Sam worked for over 4 years for Lockheed Martin at locations in Camden, AR, and Grand Prairie, TX. After completing their Operations Leadership Development Program, Sam settled in as a Systems Engineer developing system and production cost estimates for proprietary development programs.
Sam earned his Industrial Engineering degree from Louisiana Tech University and 10 years later completed his master’s degree in Engineering and Technology Management.

Outside of work, Sam is active in the community. He sits on the City of Ruston Planning and Zoning Commission, served for seven years on the Industrial Engineering Advisory Council at Louisiana Tech University. Additionally, Sam participated in and completed the Engineering and Construction Contracting Association (ECC) Future Leader Program. Locally, Sam was named one of the Top 5 Young Business Leaders to Watch by the Ruston/Lincoln Chamber of Commerce in 2016.

Sam resides in Ruston, LA, with his wife, Valerie, and three children – Amelia (10 years old), Thomas (8 years old), and Nola (5 years old). Sam and his family are members of Trinity United Methodist Church where he has served on the Staff Parish Relations Committee and is currently the Chair of the Trinity United Methodist Pre-School Board. He enjoys spending time camping with his family and friends, fishing, playing golf, and duck hunting.
