Customer Challenge
Key challenges included:
- Extreme Topography: Steep slopes, rocky outcrops, and uneven ground ruled out traditional construction methods in several areas.
- Access Limitations: With no vehicle access to some areas, transporting materials and equipment required innovative solutions.
- Time Constraints: The schedule left little room for delays, requiring seamless coordination and execution.
Our Solution
Having completed previous work in the region, HGA Power Design Services brought both insight and preparation to the project. We approached each phase with a focus on safety, precision, and schedule discipline.
- Proactive Planning: Leveraging our regional experience, we developed strategies to navigate the harsh landscape, securing permits and ROW access early in the process.
- Innovative Execution: Helicopter-assisted pole placement enabled us to overcome access barriers while maintaining an aggressive construction pace.
- Safety-First Adaptability: Our crews worked efficiently in difficult conditions, continuously adjusting to terrain challenges while upholding rigorous safety standards.

The Results
HGA successfully delivered a high-quality, on-time solution that exceeded LPEA’s expectations. Our thoughtful approach to design, easement acquisition, and construction management helped bring reliable power to the Durango area while minimizing community disruption.
