HGA Pipeline Services was awarded a survey, engineering and design contract by NextEra Energy for its pipeline that will transport natural gas from the Kinder Morgan and Gulf South pipelines to a new gas turbine combined cycle power plant project located near Leroy, Alabama. This new plant will replace the output of three Charles Lowman coal-fired generators that are being retired this year. PowerSouth Energy Cooperative is converting the generators over to natural gas.
The project encompasses 51.5 miles of 16” diameter natural gas pipeline located in Choctaw and Washington Counties, Alabama. The project also consists of a 3,800 HP compressor station and three meter stations.
The project is scheduled to be completed and in-service by December 2021.
