Matt Woodard

Chief Financial Officer

Matt Woodard, Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for the accounting and finance functions for HGA. Matt and his team will supply the business units of HGA with information and analysis that helps each unit work toward the common goal of achieving strategic vision while adhering to the core values of HGA: customer service, teamwork, trust, professional excellence, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

Matt brings an extensive amount of experience, enthusiasm, and entrepreneurial spirit to HGA. Early in his public accounting career, Matt gained valuable experience working with clients from a broad collection of industries, including construction contractors, wholesale distributors, banks, credit unions, financial institutions, manufacturers, timber companies, nonprofit entities, and governmental agencies.

In 2009, along with a trusted business colleague, Matt purchased an existing accounting practice in north Louisiana. Within four years, Matt and his colleague doubled the size of the firm, hiring and training more personnel in the process.

Eager for the next challenge, Matt and his colleague decided to sell their practice in 2013. Matt then joined an established, successful family-owned business as its Chief Financial Officer. The company has investments in several major wealth-producing industries, including oil and gas, real estate, and timber. Matt provided budget analysis, cash flow planning, financial reporting, benefit plan administration, optimal capital allocation, investment analysis, strategic planning, tax planning, tax compliance, and coordination of banking and insurance relationships. Matt brings these cross-disciplinary capabilities to HGA.

Matt graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2003; he extended his studies at Louisiana Tech by obtaining his Master of Professional Accountancy degree one year later.

Matt is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Louisiana and holds the professional designations of Chartered Global Management Accountant and Personal Financial Specialist.

Matt and his wife, Garson, live in Ruston and are raising three children: Trigger, Campbell, and Larkin. Matt is active in the community and has volunteered in various organizations including United Way, Ruston Jaycees, Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Ruston Youth Baseball, and the Louisiana Tech University Accounting Advisory Board.

Matt and his family are active in the ministries of Temple Baptist Church, where Matt has served as a small group and men’s ministry leader for 15 years. In addition to roles on the Finance, Personnel, and Global Mission committees, Matt has served in various leadership roles in the Deacon Ministry and as Associate Church Treasurer. He has a heart for the lost people of South Asia and has taken several trips there in recent years. Matt serves in local disaster relief as a member of Temple’s chainsaw crew.

Matt enjoys spending time with his family and friends and loves to exercise, read, hunt, and watch whatever sport his children are playing.
